Witness

Last updated

Witness is a self-hosted Laravel application for sending one PDF to parallel signers. Each signer proves access to their email with a six-digit code, accepts electronic-record consent, and fills assigned fields with typed or drawn signatures and initials. When everyone has finished, Witness creates a completed PDF, an audit trail, and a Certificate of Completion.

Before you deploy

Witness is Experimental and its source repository is public. Scalpels forks artisan-build/witness into a connected GitHub account, while the Artisan Build account deploys its already-owned repository directly.

Witness provides simple electronic signatures. It does not provide advanced or qualified signatures, digital seals, notarisation, government-ID checks, deed witnessing, sequential routing, or legal advice about whether a document may be signed electronically.

What Scalpels provisions

The catalog recipe deploys PHP 8.5 with Neon Postgres 18, a managed queue, private object storage, and the scheduler. It runs php artisan migrate --force after deployment and declares no environment variables for you to fill in.

Before creating the first envelope, configure the production environment's permanent custom domain. Signing and verification links preserve the host they were created with.

Start with Getting started, then follow the operating guides for preparing and sending, signing and verification, and templates and lifecycle.

Changelog
